Hills Governance Center at Yonsei 3rd International Conference
¡°Asian Corporate Governance: Practice & Perspective¡±
Friday. March 10, 2006
Sangnam Hall, Yonsei University
We request the pleasure of your company at the Third International Conference of the Hills
Governance Center at Yonsei titled, ¡°Asian Corporate Governance: Practice and Perspective.¡±
Through support from the World Bank, this conference will present four case studies that
represent the results of an interdisciplinary review on Korean corporate governance. These
cases analyze the relationship between corporate governance structures, institutional systems
and strategic decision-making. The main hypothesis is that Korean companies can develop
corporate governance systems that best befit Korea¡¯s practices, culture and heritage. The
research ultimately seeks to provide Korean companies a blueprint on corporate governance to
help them become more globally competitive. The case studies utilize applied theory and
management strategies on corporate behavior, institutions, and policy, along with field
research on a vast array of firms in Korea. Covering a broad landscape, the firms that were
analyzed include a large conglomerate, newly privatized companies, a financial firm, and a
company that successfully restructured through foreign investment.
By providing a forum for leading international and domestic professionals, this conference
seeks to find new ways to understand corporate governance in Korea. We hope you can join us.
